The Vendée Globe is closely linked to the IMOCA class (International Monohull Open Class Association). The 60-foot monohull yachts are high-performance carbon machines with foils that partially lift the hull out of the water above a certain speed. Rules and safety requirements

The Vendée Globe rulebook is deliberately strict – it aims to minimise risk without diluting the character as the ultimate challenge.
