Tyresö Strands Båtklubb

History

Tyresö Strand was among the areas in Tyresö that early turned from farmland into leisure housing. In the 1930s large plots with direct access to Erstaviken appeared; many residents built private jetties, with larger docks at Badholmen. Plans for a naval base in Erstaviken in the late 1930s were stopped by World War II; Berga naval base was built instead. During the war outboards were stored in wood sheds and people rowed to Solsidan, Älgöskär and Talludden. In the 1950s the boat fleet grew quickly. To launch, haul out and winter-store boats collectively at reasonable cost, Tyresö strands Båtklubb was founded in 1954. An agreement with the Villaägarförening created a storage area used as beach parking in summer. Investments followed in workshop, docks, mast crane, buoy boat, clubhouse, trailers and slipway. In 1994 the club celebrated its 40th anniversary at Tyresö Bygdegård. A local plan by Tyresö municipality was adopted on 12 August 2008 and applied from November 2010; a water ruling for site changes entered into force on 19 March and covered park, bathing area, parking, bathing jetties, pier and the club area. In 2011 ice heavily damaged the docks; Brygga 3 was repaired in spring 2011 with major member effort. Membership previously required belonging to the Villaägarförening. In 2013 Tyresö municipality became landowner; the lease runs until 31 December 2040. Statutes were changed from a local-only club to an open boat club joining Svenska Båtunion (SBU). In 2014–2015 talks continued on dock expansion. From autumn 2015 earthworks began; Svenska Pontonhamnar AB built the pier and new docks, financed by member pier loans and a Swedbank loan. In spring 2016 the new floating Brygga 3 was in place, the quay was rebuilt, Brygga 2 and a new ramp were built, and a taller safer mast crane installed. In 2016, 190 boats lay at the docks. In 2017 a youth section with sailing schools was formed. In 2018 Brygga 1 was rebuilt from a pile jetty to a floating dock with Y-booms. In 2021 a 70-metre breakwater was attached to Brygga 3A. In 2022–2023 an eight-metre-wide slipway was built between Brygga 1 and 2.
