Yacht-Club Rheindelta
Yacht-Club Rheindelta (YCRhd) is an active sailing club on the Austrian shore of Lake Constance, based in Fußach in the Rhine Delta. The club has a clubhouse on Hafenstraße and an outstation at Rohrspitz, and is strongly involved in racing and cruising. The fleet and programme include Tornado, ORC and Optimist; the youth section runs OPTI taster days and dinghy training. Regular club events such as the White Night summer party, the season opening sail and participation in the VLSV club championship shape club life on Lake Constance.
History
Yacht-Club Rheindelta (YCRhd) is based on the Austrian Lake Constance shore in Fußach in the Rhine Delta and maintains, besides the clubhouse at Hafenstraße 22, a further location at Rohrspitz. Club life is shaped by racing, cruising and social events. Club boats and crews compete in various classes; notable are ORC results, including the NoRelaX win under Karsten Heinzle in ORC 1 at the 75th RUND UM long-distance race around Lake Constance. At Rohrspitz the Austrian Tornado national championship was held as part of the Raiffeisen Euro Cup. The club traditionally takes part in the VLSV club championship and hosts the Sheets and Knots Regatta as the close of Moonlight Week. The youth section runs OPTI taster days, for example with pupils from Fußach primary school. The clubhouse is open on Wednesdays and for events such as the White Night summer party; the season opening includes a gathering at the clubhouse and a joint sail to Bregenz. For many years Eugen Übelhör, among others, shaped club life as a board member and treasurer.
