Yacht Club Sant'Ampelio
Yacht Club Sant'Ampelio is an amateur sports association (Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica) in Bordighera on the Ligurian Riviera. The club promotes sailing and sea-related activities, runs training and racing programmes, and works with the Autoscuola Mediterranea sailing school. Members can take offshore sailing courses on a Grand Soleil 45, race training, and themed evenings on meteorology and marine life. The club organises several annual regattas in the ORC and cruising classes, including the Trofeo di Primavera and the Regata della Gallinara, and also offers a bar service and support for boats in transit.
History
According to its statutes, Yacht Club Sant'Ampelio – Bordighera – Associazione Sportiva Dilettantistica was established in Bordighera as a sports association under Articles 36 et seq. of the Italian Civil Code. The association is non-political and not for profit. After sporting recognition by the sports authorities, its purpose is to develop and spread sailing-related activities as a means of psycho-physical and moral education of members. This includes competitive, recreational and other motor activities, as well as managing and maintaining facilities and equipment for sailing and sea sports. At its premises, where conditions allow, the association may also offer recreational activities for members, including a refreshment service. The structure is democratic, with equal rights for all members and elective association offices. Founding members include among others Gianluigi Saluzzo, Ezio Raspaldo, Michele Crivello, Adriano Rozio Campagnoni, Gianmarco Brenna, Paolo Selmi, Sebastiano Curti, Fernando Parmiggiani, Giòbatta Romeo De Villa Palù, Dante Cocchi, Franco Zuccoli, Andrea Lorenzi, Piero Orazio Basso and further members of the Civallero, Saluzzo and other founding families. Francesco Bascianelli was president for 18 years and continues member training through the Autoscuola Mediterranea sailing school. The club is affiliated with the FIV and refers to a CONI certificate from 2021.
