Yacht Club Como
Yacht Club Como is the official yacht and sailing club on Lake Como and has been a reference point for sailing and powerboating enthusiasts on the lake for nearly a century. The club combines sporting tradition with an international record of success and promotes nautical culture and the sporting spirit on the lake. Through the Lago di Como Youth Sails Academy (LCYS Academy) it offers training for young sailors of all ages and levels, with qualified instructors and modern boats. A highlight of the calendar is the Centomiglia del Lario, the iconic powerboat race with roots dating back to 1949. The programme also includes sailing open days, cultural events and worldwide reciprocity agreements with partner clubs.
History
Yacht Club Como looks back on a prestigious history and a rich international record of sporting success. For nearly a century the club has been a reference point for powerboating and sailing enthusiasts on Lake Como. From the earliest regattas and boat racing to more recent developments, the club has cultivated a tradition of excellence and authority, promoting nautical culture and sporting spirit. Italy’s first public sailing school was born here on Lake Como; that origin still shapes the club’s identity today. Since 1949 the Centomiglia del Lario has been linked to the club and the territory: the legendary powerboat event has attracted Italian and international pilots for more than seventy years and is regarded as a global showcase for Lombard sport. Today Yacht Club Como combines this heritage with youth development through the Lago di Como Youth Sails Academy as well as cultural formats and international reciprocity ties with selected yacht and sports clubs worldwide.
