The Carinthian Yacht Club Millstättersee (KYCM) is the official sailing club on the northern shore of Lake Millstatt between Seeboden and Millstatt in Carinthia, Austria. The club has two stainless-steel jetties with power and water, floating pontoons for about 40 boats, and its own crane facility on Millstätter Straße B98. The programme includes regular regattas and races, recreational cruising, and since 2008 an annual Optimist camp for children from the age of eight. As a member of the Austrian Sailing Federation (ÖSV), the club combines competitive sailing with an active club life and youth development.
History
The Carinthian Yacht Club Millstättersee (KYCM) is located on the northern shore of Lake Millstatt between Seeboden and Millstatt. In 1994 and 1995 the club built two stainless-steel jetties with outriggers, mooring eyes, fender protection and hardwood decking; anchoring uses stainless-steel cables, chain runs and four shipping anchors of 1000 kg each. Power and water connections are available at the jetty heads. Facilities include a small kitchen with chilled drinks, toilets, club parking about 500 metres from the grounds, and a large tent for bad weather; two large floating pontoons accommodate around 40 boats of various sizes. Since 2008 the club has focused on youth work and runs an annual Optimist camp for junior sailors, plus weekly training from June to late September. In 2016 KYCM opened its own crane facility on Millstätter Straße B98, also available to non-members. The club is an official member of the Austrian Sailing Federation (ÖSV) and regularly hosts regattas and races. Today club life combines competitive sailing, mutual support, joint training and social events on Lake Millstatt.
