Yacht Club Rursee e. V.
Yacht Club Rursee e. V. is the largest water sports club on Lake Rur and is located in Simmerath-Woffelsbach in the Eifel region. The club offers a modern marina with three piers and a total of 120 berths, a working pier with mast crane, an Optimist platform, and a clubhouse with restaurant service and lake views over Woffelsbach Bay. Youth sailing, training and club boats in the Optimist, Pirate and ILCA classes shape the sporting programme, as do yard and crane services on the club grounds. Regular barbecue evenings, trial sailing for children, the Opti Cup and the annual club regatta welcome families, juniors and experienced sailors. Marking its 70th anniversary in 2026, the club celebrates tradition and community life beside Eifel National Park.
History
In 2026 Yacht Club Rursee e. V. marks its 70th anniversary with the motto “Flower Power – 70 years of Peace, Love and Sailing” at the club festival and club regatta. As the largest water sports club on Lake Rur, the club in Simmerath-Woffelsbach has become a central hub for sailing and club life. The YCR traditionally hosts the Yacht Club Opti Cup; in 2024 the junior regatta took place on 24 and 25 August and, after gale-force winds on Saturday, offered three races on Sunday under race officer Rüdiger Woiwode. The grounds include three piers with 120 berths, a working pier with mast crane, Optimist platform, dinghy meadow, youth room and barbecue hut. The clubhouse restaurant overlooking Woffelsbach Bay is run by the Krag family, whom the club congratulated on ten years of catering. The club is registered at Aachen local court under VR 80114 and is a member of the German Sailing Association (DSV register no. NW 061). Training for inland and coastal pleasure craft licences plus the youth sailing certificate complement long-term junior development.
