Yachtclub Olten
Yachtclub Olten is an association for people interested in boating and promotes shipping on the Aare as well as the Dünnern in the Olten region. On its website the club presents its purpose and mainly reports on the Olten St. Niklaus swim, which has already been held several times. The event combines water sports with charity work for Cultibo and Shelter Box and is supported by sponsors and regional service clubs. The 8th St. Niklaus swim was scheduled for 1 December 2024, preferably again in the Aare. The club also publishes news and photo documentation of its events and can be reached via Facebook.
History
Yachtclub Olten presents itself on its website as an association that brings together people interested in shipping and promotes Aare shipping as well as the Dünnern. The club website carries a copyright notice dating from 2015. A recurring highlight of club life is the Olten St. Niklaus swim: there was, among others, a 2nd and a 5th swim in the Aare; the 5th event was reflected in a blog post dated 7 December 2021, looking ahead to December 2022. The Rotary Club Gösgen-Niederamt was to continue the 6th Olten St. Niklaus swim in the same style. Later the club reported on the 7th Olten St. Niklaus swim, which almost 200 swimmers attended in fine weather; that time the event took place not in the Aare but in cold and hot pots. Donations and sponsorship went to charity work for Cultibo and Shelter Box; regional service clubs supported the event by swimming or financially. The club already looked forward to the 8th St. Niklaus swim, expected on 1 December 2024 and preferably again in the Aare. In addition the club publishes news and photo galleries, including documentation by Yannik Belart and Yurie Tonet.
