Yacht Club Lindau
Yacht Club Lindau, known as the Mauersegler, is an active sailing club at the harbour wall of the island town of Lindau on Lake Constance. The club runs its own harbour with fixed jetties, a floating pontoon and berths, and offers guest berths after telephone arrangement with the harbour master. Club life is shaped by the season opening race, club regatta with summer festival, season closing race and club cruises, for example to the Kressbronn sailors. Members meet socially at the wall, organise harbour work parties and take part in Lake Constance regattas. The harbour of Yacht-Club-Lindau e.V. lies at 47° 32.705′ N and 9° 41.259′ E and is the central hub of club life.
History
Yacht Club Lindau is known by the nickname Mauersegler and keeps its harbour at the schoolyard wall or yacht wall in Lindau on Lake Constance. The club is registered with the Kempten district court under number VR30019. In 2018 the club honoured Mr Dufner after more than 40 years as harbour master with the silver badge of honour of the Bavarian Sailing Association; Roland Klement then took over the role. In 2019 members renewed the floating pontoon with new buoyancy tanks and modernised buoys and chains at the berths. 2020 was marked by the coronavirus pandemic: the annual general meeting was postponed and the season opening race cancelled, yet the season closing race, weed-clearing work parties and renewal of berth numbers on the wall still took place. In 2021 the members' meeting confirmed the board and elected a board member as race officer; long-serving board members received silver badges of the Bavarian Sailing Association. Since then season opening and closing races, the club regatta with summer festival, cruises to Kressbronn and social gatherings at the wall have shaped club life. Members also report voyages such as an ARC Atlantic crossing and participation in the LSC Rundum on Lake Constance.
