Växjö Kappseglingsklubb
Växjö Kappseglingsklubb (VKSK) is the official sailing club in Växjö and trains on Lake Helgasjön. The club runs a certified sailing school with club boats for beginners as well as youth and adult training. Children typically start in the Optimist; more advanced sailors use ILCA boats and other club dinghies among other options. The programme includes weekly training, sailing school, day camps and regattas including regional championships. VKSK is certified as a safe and trusted club and is active in the Swedish sailing community.
History
Växjö Kappseglingsklubb (VKSK) is the sailing community in Växjö with a focus on training and racing on Lake Helgasjön. The club runs a certified sailing school and bases youth work around Optimist as well as progressive youth groups. For beginners the club provides boats to borrow and hire; more advanced juniors sail ILCA among other options and can try further club dinghies. Adult beginner groups also train within the club programme. VKSK has been certified by the City of Växjö together with RF-SISU Småland as a safe and trusted association and has documented values and action plans. The club regularly organises activities such as sailing school, day camps and regional championships, including Optimist regional championships.
