Club de Voile Vent d'Ouest
Club de Voile Vent d'Ouest is a sailing club organised under French association law (loi 1901) and has been active in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni in French Guiana on the Maroni River since 2002. Recognised by the Fédération Française de Voile as an École Française de Voile and affiliated with the DDJS, the club offers sailing courses for children and adults of all levels – from initiation to improvement – supervised by a state-qualified instructor. The programme includes Optimist and Laser Pico dinghies as well as windsurfing, year-round courses for individuals and holiday courses during school breaks; peri-school groups are also welcomed as part of educational support. Members sail in the club’s own programme in parallel, and the club organises open days and holiday sailing courses for all ability levels.
History
Club de Voile Vent d'Ouest has existed as an Association loi 1901 since 2002 in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni in French Guiana. The club operates as both a sailing school and a membership structure, labelled École Française de Voile by the Fédération Française de Voile and affiliated with the DDJS. All activities are supervised by a state-qualified instructor. Besides members’ own practice, the club welcomes peri-school groups under educational accompaniment and offers individuals year-round sailing lessons as well as courses during school holidays. The blog documents among other things the 2013 presentation, an open day in 2014 and holiday courses (including summer 2021). The offer covers dinghies (Optimist, Laser Pico), windsurfing and other nautical activities; course prices are listed as quarterly packages, excluding FFV licence and membership cotisation.
