A.S.D. Vela Club Cagliari
A.S.D. Vela Club Cagliari is an amateur sports association and sailing school based at the Su Siccu harbour in Cagliari on the Gulf of Cagliari in Sardinia. The club promotes sailing and sea culture and offers courses on cabin yachts for all levels – from beginner courses through advanced training and berthing manoeuvres to skipper training and school cruises. Members take part year-round in crew outings, instructional trips, regatta practice and promotional and charity sailing events. Founded in 2014 on the initiative of Capt. Marco Fadda and a group of friends, the club aims to make sailing accessible to everyone. It also runs social and environmental sailing projects for young people with physical and socio-cultural difficulties.
History
A.S.D. Vela Club Cagliari was created in 2014 from the idea of Capt. Marco Fadda, a merchant navy officer and experienced sailor, together with a circle of sailing enthusiasts. The goal was to dispel the myth that sailing is reserved only for a few wealthy people. Since its founding, the association has operated as an amateur sports club and sailing school based at Su Siccu harbour in Cagliari. The programme includes beginner courses, advanced courses, manoeuvre training, skipper training, courses for new boat owners, school cruises and intensive courses with the club’s own sailing boats. The club organises year-round crew groups for leisure and instructional outings in the Gulf of Cagliari, practice for sailing events and regattas, and promotional and charity events. A particular focus is on social and environmental integration projects on board for young people with various physical and socio-cultural difficulties. Membership is seasonal (spring/summer and autumn/winter) and includes UISP-CONI membership for the current year.
