Skebäcks Varfsförening
Skebäcks Varfsförening (SVF) is a member-owned boat association in Örebro that leases the harbour area of Skebäcks småbåtshamn from the City of Örebro. The association manages and rents all berth and storage places in the small-boat harbour as well as the yard area, and provides guests with a guest pier. With around 260 berths, a crane for launching and winter storage, a defibrillator at the harbour office and the outstation Ekebo on western Lake Hjälmaren, SVF welcomes all boat enthusiasts in the region. Regular activity days, launching dates and offers such as the Rorsmansmärket programme for women shape club life; SVF is a member of the Swedish Boat Union and organises traditional summer gatherings.
History
Skebäcks Varfsförening (SVF) is a member-run association that leases the harbour area of Skebäcks småbåtshamn from the City of Örebro and manages all berth and storage places in the small-boat harbour as well as the yard. The club is a member of the Swedish Boat Union and uses the Bas membership IT system and the Billecta invoicing platform, as do many other Swedish boat clubs. Since 17 June 2020 the boat storage area on the yard has been monitored by Avarn Security camera surveillance for safety; at night the grounds are closed, and visitor opening hours are between 7 and 23. In 2021 SVF received the Ekebo property with land and boat pier as a gift from Örebro Båtklubb; Ekebo lies in Norra Ässundet between Hemfjärden and Mellanfjärden on western Lake Hjälmaren and is reachable by motorboats of the size used in Örebro's harbour basin. In 2022 extensive property works were underway; in 2024 the house was newly painted, entrance stairs, gutters and downpipes renewed, a boardwalk laid, groundworks started, a sanitation facility put into operation and the pier newly oiled. At the 2024 annual meeting a family membership was also introduced to strengthen equality work and register couples at the same address with a maximum of two votes. Activity days, launching and haul-out campaigns as well as traditional grill parties and crayfish parties of the festivities committee belong to the annual club calendar.
