Træskibsforeningen i Aarhus (TSA) is the association for historic wooden ships in the Træskibshavn on Aarhus Bay. The community runs a clubhouse, berths and wood, sail and metal workshops while preserving traditional sailing-ship craftsmanship. Guests find berths with daily rates and QR payment; members use the clubhouse, skipper lounge and association parking permits. The programme includes the traditional navigation race Pis Pot Cup and involvement in Tall Ships Race and Nordisk Skudetræf. The association was founded to preserve wooden ships and their history and to pass on sailing craft skills.
History
Træskibsforeningen i Aarhus was founded to preserve wooden ships and their history and to maintain skills and traditions of sailing-ship craftsmanship. The association operates the Træskibshavn in Aarhus and organises daily life through many committees, including harbour, bridge, building, electrical, workshop and sailing committees. The wood and sail workshops and the metal workshop were covered with a roof structure; the roof carries solar panels that help meet the high electricity demand of the wooden-ship harbour. The wood workshop was recently renovated and fitted with automatic chip extraction; machines may only be used by members who have completed the workshop course. The clubhouse with festival hall, kitchen, skipper lounge, toilets and showers is the central meeting place and can be rented for member events under set rules. Each year the traditional navigation race Pis Pot Cup is sailed around the marks in Aarhus Bay. The association also takes part in major events such as Tall Ships Race and Nordisk Skudetræf and invites members and ships to shared occasions.
