Tranebergs Segelsällskap
Tranebergs Segelsällskap is a non-profit boat and sailing club on Lake Ulvsunda in Bromma, Stockholm, with harbour and yard at Lilla Båtvarvsgränd. The club welcomes sailboats, motorboats, rowing boats, trailer boats and kayaks and relies on active members for work days and shared club tasks. As a biocide-free club it enforces strict antifouling rules; summer berths and combined summer and winter berths depend on approved paint readings and, if needed, remediation. The small community offers exchange on wooden boats, engines, racing, kayaking and fishing and usually holds an autumn race before haul-outs. Since its founding in 1946 the club has been a practical meeting point for committed boaters in Bromma.
History
Tranebergs Segelsällskap was founded on 9 April 1946. On 7 May 1946 the society met and the name Tranebergs Segelsällskap was formally adopted. For many years the summer harbour was north of Tranebergsbron on the Traneberg side, while the yard was near Johannelund on Lake Ulvsunda. Today yard and harbour are in the same place on Lake Ulvsunda at Lilla Båtvarvsgränd in Bromma. The club is organised as a non-profit association and bases operations and finances on members' own efforts, including joint work days, clean-up days and doing as much club work as possible together. Environmentally the club is biocide-free: toxic bottom paints are not allowed. Summer berth applications require approved bottom-paint measurements; for summer and winter berths the boat must be remediated if levels exceed the limits. Membership is aimed at boating enthusiasts interested in wooden boats, engines, racing, kayaking or fishing. As a small club it is known for short social distances, mutual help with stepping masts, trailer haul-outs and cradle building, and a customary autumn race before haul-outs.
