Tourenskipper Kiel e.V.
Tourenskipper Kiel e.V. (TSK) is a watersports and sailing club in the heart of Kiel at the Blücherbrücke on the inner Kiel Fjord. The club especially welcomes people without their own boat and offers training and shared trips on the club yacht Benno 2, a Dufour 2800. After-work sailing takes place every Tuesday; Mondays are reserved for women-only sailing at the berth by the Blücherbrücke. Experienced skippers teach seamanship and sailing skills; from late autumn the club also offers the coastal recreational craft licence (Sportbootführerschein See). Since its founding in 1976 the club has grown from eight founding members to around 80 members and uses berths directly on the Kiellinie.
History
Tourenskipper Kiel e.V. was founded in 1976. The founding members found sufficiently large berths for their cutters and motorboats at the Blücherbrücke on the inner Kiel Fjord. Starting with eight founding members, TSK grew over the years to around 80 members and currently about 12 boats. One of the founders was Richard Wagner, grandfather of a still-active member; he held membership card No. 1 and held the BR licence. At that time burgee licences were required to fly the club burgee from the crosstrees. Near the same place once stood the Kiel signal tower, which in imperial times fired a noon gun at 12 o'clock; it survived the Second World War but was demolished in 1958. Afterwards the naval sail training ship Gorch Fock lay at the new Blücherbrücke until 1997. Today traditional sailing vessels of Traditional Sailing Charter berth there. Tourenskipper Kiel e.V. uses berths directly on the Kiellinie at the Blücherbrücke. Whereas the early years were dominated by cutters and large motor and sailing boats, today mostly sailing boats are based at TSK. Many members have no boat of their own and use crewing, shared trips and club offers. The club boat Benno 2, an older Dufour 2800, is used for training and after-work sailing; the club launched crowdfunding for a new mainsail and AIS system for the yacht.
