YachtClub unter Teck e.V.

YachtClub unter Teck e.V. (YCuT) is a non-profit sailing and motorboating club based in Kirchheim unter Teck, founded in Nabern on 25 November 2003. Main sailing takes place on Lake Constance, where the club's keelboats lie in Ultramarin Marina in Kressbronn; Optimists and a dinghy are available at Max-Eyth-See in Stuttgart, and the motorboat is used for training in Remseck. Members can book six keelboats and one motorboat online, while Optimists and the dinghy are free to use; there is also a crew exchange, skipper mentoring and the Sailing Girls group. From mid-April to end of October juniors train on Saturdays at Max-Eyth-See, with an annual youth trip on Lake Constance; each year the club offers recreational boat licences, Lake Constance skipper patents and skipper training. After rapid growth the club now has more than 500 members from a wide catchment area, some also sailing in other European waters and overseas.

History

Yachtclub unter Teck was founded on 25 November 2003 in Nabern, when the club statutes were adopted. Although there is no sufficiently large local water body under Castle Teck, the club quickly established Lake Constance as its main sailing area, with further sites at Max-Eyth-See and Remseck for motorboat training. The club seat is Kirchheim unter Teck; without its own clubhouse, events such as the annual general meeting and year-end celebration take place in Bürgerhaus Zehntscheuer Nabern. In 2012 the Sailing Girls group formed within YCuT and grew to over 20 women sailors with meetings, Lake Constance weekends and skipper training. Since 2017 experienced skipper mentors support less experienced members on first club-boat trips. The club maintains keelboats in Ultramarin Marina Kressbronn, Optimists and a dinghy at Max-Eyth-See, and a motorboat for training and day trips. A club regatta challenge cup encourages racing; members also enter Lake Constance events such as Regatta der Eisernen and Rund um. In July 2023 YCuT celebrated its 20th anniversary. Today the club reports more than 500 members and offers training for sailing and motorboating on Lake Constance and coastal waters.
