Yachtclub Ried Schärding
Yachtclub Ried Schärding (YCRS) is a non-profit yacht club in Upper Austria with its seat in Ried im Innkreis and strong ties to the Schärding district. Founded in 2009 as Yachtclub Ried and operating since January 2026 under the extended name YCRS, the club cultivates boating on inland lakes and the high seas – under sail and power. The programme includes monthly meetups, talks on seamanship and cruising grounds, joint boat-show outings, skipper training, youth-oriented instruction and a club library. With 81 members from Upper Austria, Vienna, Graz and Styria, the club sees itself as an open crew without an elitist threshold and is affiliated with ÖSV and MSVÖ.
History
Yachtclub Ried Schärding was founded in 2009 as Yachtclub Ried and has since cultivated boating on inland lakes and the high seas under sail and power. Its activities are non-profit and not aimed at profit; the club is a member of the Austrian Sailing Federation (ÖSV) and the Austrian Motorboating and Seafaring Association (MSVÖ). Its seat is Ried im Innkreis; members come mainly from Upper Austria, but also from Vienna, Graz and Styria. At the general assembly on 8 January 2026 the club was unanimously renamed Yachtclub Ried Schärding (short form YCRS) to highlight the link between the Ried and Schärding districts and to broaden its base. At the same time the board was expanded and newly elected: Roland Zehentmayer took over as chairman; former chairman Rudi Schwarz, MBA, was unanimously named honorary chairman. In an interview with Bezirksrundschau (March 2026), Zehentmayer stressed the goal of making the club more attractive, engaging youth more strongly and growing membership to three digits by 2030. Today the club has 81 members and offers meetups, talks, show trips, skipper training and instruction.
