Yachtclub Podersdorf
Yachtclub Podersdorf has been a lively sailing club on the eastern shore of Lake Neusiedl in Podersdorf am See since 1962, at the only place without a reed belt. The grounds with harbour, pyramid-shaped clubhouse, canteen, dinghy and surfing plateau and jetties offer excellent conditions for racing sailors, leisure skippers and surfers of all ages. Regular regattas, social events and strong youth development with a youth week and seasonal training shape the programme. Sporting highlights include Olympic gold in 2024 in Formula Kite as well as world titles and participation in the Austrian Sailing Bundesliga.
History
In 1962 seven enthusiastic sailors from the Alte Donau joined forces to extend their sailing grounds to Lake Neusiedl. Podersdorf seemed ideal, and by 1965 the municipality leased club grounds. In 1974 the club moved to a new site; in 1979 the clubhouse opened, built without external subsidies through the members’ own initiative. The facility covers 7,245 m² of land and 5,000 m² of water, a harbour for about 120 cruisers and over 30 dinghies, and 34 cabins. It was designed by local architect Dipl. Ing. Eberstaller. In the 1990s the YCP became a cruising club with the Blue Water Race in Greece, Italy, Turkey and Croatia. From the new millennium youth work grew under Alexander Kohlendorfer as youth officer, yielding many championship titles and a Zoom8 vice world champion. In 2013 the club hosted an Austrian Youth Championship for the first time. In 2008/09 the clubhouse ground floor was renovated; in 2013 the dinghy plateau and jetties followed. In autumn 2016 a cable fire devastated the bar; renovation renewed the bar, kitchen and floor. From 2018 about 2,500 m² of additional land became available. In 2018 the YCP first qualified for the Sailing Bundesliga and has remained a fixture since. COVID-19 and the 2023 drought with the lowest water level since 1965 strained club life. In 2024 Valentin Bontus won Olympic gold in Formula Kite, and Angelika Kohlendorfer and Calvin Claus became Tornado world champions.

Youth section
Youth programme for children from about 6–8 years up to about 18, with entry, build-up, support and performance pathways. Optimist as starter boat, later ILCA; annual youth week in July, regular season training, training camps and regattas including Burgenland Youth Cup and Austrian Youth Championship.
