Yacht-Club Stockach e.V.

Yacht-Club Stockach e.V. (YCST) is a sailing club with the certified natural harbour “Im Löchle” at the lake end of Lake Constance between Bodman and Ludwigshafen. The site includes a harbour basin with fixed and floating jetties, a slipway for light dinghies and a clubhouse with sanitary facilities. The club offers youth work with an open training camp of Segeljugend Seeende, club regattas and MidWeek regattas as well as environmentally oriented sailing in an SAC/FFH area. Since its founding in 1955 and harbour development in 1956, volunteer effort, environmental protection and awards such as the Blue Anchor have shaped the club’s history.

History

Yacht-Club Stockach was founded in 1955 by 17 sailing enthusiasts from Stockach; the founding meeting took place on 27 June 1955. Registration and admission to the German Sailing Association followed in 1956, when the club already had 33 members and 15 boats. Because boats were initially moored at various places off Ludwigshafen, YCST leased the “Im Löchle” site east of the Ludwigshafen campsite from the Counts of Bodman on the initiative of Wilhelm Rodemann. In 1956 members created the natural harbour “Im Löchle” by cutting through to the lake. In 1959 the basin was widened and a fixed jetty built on the west shore. The clubhouse with toilets opened in 1968. In 1985 sheet piles secured the fairway; in 1987 a permanent floating jetty was launched. The fixed jetty was renewed in 1993 and the clubhouse improved in 1995. An environmental officer was added to the board in 1991; from 1993 to 2003 the club held the Blue Flag, and from 2006 regularly the IWGB “Blue Anchor” award. Since 2007 the annual YCST environmental handbook has been published. Sanitary and shower facilities were upgraded in 2005–2007. In 2010 wooden piles were replaced by metal ones; the fixed jetty was refurbished in 2012, electrics in 2014 and toilets in 2018. Since 2010 the harbour grounds form part of the Natura 2000/SAC network. Later milestones include clubhouse renovation in 2021, dredging of the basin in 2025 and renewal of the floating jetty in 2026.
