Yacht-Club Nürnberg e.V.
Yacht-Club Nürnberg e.V. (YCN) is an active sailing club based at Nuremberg's Dutzendteich, with additional clubhouses on Lake Brombach and a sea-sailing base in Heiligenhafen. Members use jetties and club boats including J/70 and Conger, with a broad programme from Optimist youth groups through dinghy and sportsboat training to regattas and licence courses. Children, teenagers and adults train regularly, join Wednesday regattas and classic weekends, and can obtain recreational boat licences. After merging with Yachtclub Frankonia and renaming in 2019, the club remains a fixture of Franconian sailing and is planning a new clubhouse at Dutzendteich.
History
Today's Yacht-Club Nürnberg e.V. originated as Yacht-Club Noris e.V. and grew substantially in 2018 through the merger with Yachtclub Frankonia e.V. Members of both clubs voted overwhelmingly for the merger on 18 July 2018; it was formally completed in September 2018. Since 6 June 2019 the club has been named Yacht-Club Nürnberg e.V. (YCN). The club network comprises the Dutzendteich site in Nuremberg, two clubhouses on Lake Brombach (including Haus Frankonia in Ramsberg) and the club's mahogany yacht Lone Star in Heiligenhafen, which has been in sea-sailing service for more than 50 years. In later years the fleet and programme expanded: in 2018 the inclusive keelboat Maria (RS Venture Connect) was christened, and in 2020 club-owned J/70s arrived at Lake Brombach. Regular events such as Opti-Trichter, Zwetschgenmännla, Wednesday regattas, classic weekends and hosting junior league finals shaped club life. The YCN is currently planning a new clubhouse at Dutzendteich and documents its history in the club archive.
