Yachtclub Langballigau e.V.
Yachtclub Langballigau e.V. is an active sailing club on the outer Flensburg Fjord with a clubhouse and winter storage halls at Langballigau marina. The club runs a full regatta season including Double Rundt, IM-Jaich Cup, Flensburger Dunkel, Nordstadtwerke Cup and Wednesday evening races under ORC. Juniors train in Optimists and 420s, while adults and crews meet for monthly gatherings, cruising and the Whitsun pan event. A distinctive feature is the close link to the marina, the local DGzRS station and the regional reach of the double-handed Double Rundt race.
History
Yachtclub Langballigau e.V. is registered at the Schleswig court as VR 703 FL and has its sporting base at Langballigau marina on the outer Flensburg Fjord. Youth work is a long tradition: training has been offered since 1965. Max Riech was awarded honorary membership for lifelong service to the YCLL and for helping build both winter halls and the clubhouse. The club sees itself as a hands-on association with winter halls on the B199, a clubhouse and a leased meadow car park. After the extreme storm surge of 2023 and ongoing harbour siltation, the board pushes for flood protection and a harbour redesign; a preliminary study has been commissioned. Sportingly the YCLL has gained regional stature: Double Rundt fills within hours, weekend races count towards the German offshore racing ranking, and the Wednesday evening race with a proper start line is a speciality. Go4speed coaching seminars and cooperation with the local DGzRS complete the profile. In 2026 jubilees for 10, 25 and 50 years of membership were honoured, eight new supporting members joined and the full board was re-elected.
