Yacht Club Kreuzlingen
Yacht Club Kreuzlingen (YCK) is the oldest sailing club on the Swiss shore of Lake Constance, founded in December 1920. The club is based at Promenadenstrasse 39 in 8280 Kreuzlingen TG, directly at Seegarten harbour with its own clubhouse, pier and slipway. Together with neighbouring clubs Segler-Vereinigung Kreuzlingen and Segler-Vereinigung Bottighofen, YCK supports youth sailing in the regional junior pool; training covers classes such as Optimist, ILCA, 420 and J/70. With around 200 members, the club combines regattas, midweek races and social events and is a founding member of the Swiss Sailing League.
History
Yacht Club Kreuzlingen was founded on 11 December 1920 at the Rebstock inn and is the oldest yacht club on the Swiss shore of Lake Constance. Under first president Willi Raichle, statutes were drawn up quickly and by 2 July 1921 the jointly built boathouse on the lake—later the clubhouse—was inaugurated. In the following decades cruising, racing and the admission of women shaped club life; in 1932 the club acquired the park and boat-storage plot across the road. During the Second World War sailing was heavily restricted; afterwards came a boom with junior training, the around-the-lake long-distance race and sporting successes including Swiss championship titles in Vaurien and 420. New classes such as Flying Dutchman and Korsar joined the mooring field; in 1961 YCK organised the Swiss Pirate championship. In the 1970s members built thirteen Optimists themselves, and Rainer Fröhlich and Peter Munz took second overall at the junior world championships in Toronto. Seegarten harbour opened on 15 April 1986; YCK obtained its own pier and slipway, and the clubhouse was renovated in 1987. In 1992 the Shark World Cup was held in Kreuzlingen, midweek races were introduced, and youth work with SVK and SVB earned USY awards. Under Andreas Giger and Rolf Zwicky came international regattas, the Junior Sailing Pool Region Kreuzlingen, Swiss Sailing League membership with a club J/70, and the 2015 land exchange for parking and storage. After the 2018 clubhouse rebuild and the centenary in 2020, Tom Bättig handed over the presidency; since 2025 Katharina Künzli chairs the board.

Clubhouse directly on Lake Constance (about 45 persons indoors, wooden veranda for about 120 guests with roof), own pier and slipway at Seegarten harbour, park and boat storage, wireless hotspot on the pier head; access via Werftstrasse. Clubhouse for members and their guests only, not publicly catered.
Activities
Internal and open regattas, midweek races, J/70 training and women's sailing, junior sailing pool, social events (fish dinner, ski weekend, summer festival), Swiss Sailing League and involvement in the International Lake Constance Week.
Youth section
Youth work together with SVK and SVB in the Junior Sailing Pool Region Kreuzlingen: about 60 children and youths (ages 6–20) each year, training under Youth + Sport in Optimist, Laser, 420 and on yachts; support in the Swiss Sailing Team Bodensee regional squad. Contact: jugend@yck.ch
