Yacht-Club Hagnau / Bodensee e.V.
Yacht-Club Hagnau / Bodensee e.V. (YCHB) is a non-profit sailing and motorboat club on Lake Constance with its home berth at pier 8 in the Meichle + Mohr Marina Ultramarin in Kressbronn-Gohren. About half of the club fleet of some 55 boats is based there; members are recognisable by the blue-and-yellow club burgee. Club life centres on flotilla sailing, season opening and closing trips, cultural outings, sailors’ meet-ups, and regattas plus club championship races on the lake. Youth work matters to the club, currently with few junior members of its own and support for neighbouring clubs’ youth activities. In 2026 YCHB celebrates its 60th anniversary and is a member of the German Sailing Federation.
History
On 10 December 1966 the Seglervereinigung Immenstaad Bodensee (SVIB) was founded; the initiator was Paul Egger. Accepting an offer from the municipality of Hagnau under Mayor Heinike, the watersports centre was relocated there. Four years later, in 1970, SVIB became Yacht Club Hagnau / Bodensee (YCHB). Since 24 April 1981 YCHB has been based at pier 8 in the Meichle & Mohr watersports centre in Kressbronn-Gohren, where about half of the club’s fleet of 55 boats is moored. The club was created to pursue the hobby together and make it accessible to the public, bringing together people of all ages. As a berth-holder club at Ultramarin it actively supports the Blue Anchor environmental programme; environmental responsibility is a board matter handled by first chairman Axel Egger as environmental officer. In 2026 YCHB celebrates its 60th anniversary. Today flotilla sailing, opening and closing trips to partner clubs on Lake Constance, cultural outings, sailors’ meet-ups, winter gatherings and club championship races shape club life.
