Yachtclub Eolus Weißenburg e.V.
Yachtclub Eolus Weißenburg e.V. is a family-oriented sailing club on the Großer Brombachsee in Ramsberg and has existed since its founding in 1996. At the sailing harbour the club offers a new sailing centre and clubhouse as well as its own boat fleet for an easy start without major expense. The focus is training from the junior sailing certificate from age seven through inland and coastal sport boat licences up to the coastal yachtmaster certificate, complemented by youth sailing weeks, weekend training and regatta participation. After about 30 years of formative board work by Adi Max Faltermeier, a new board elected in 2026 continues the club and aims to attract more young people and volunteers.
History
Yachtclub Eolus Weißenburg e.V. was founded in 1996 and has sailed with passion on the Großer Brombachsee in Ramsberg ever since. For about three decades Adi Max Faltermeier shaped the club on the board; many members describe his commitment as exceptional and call him the heart and face of club life at regattas, events and in everyday sailing. The club built strong training work: for more than 25 years it has trained sport boat licence candidates and has been recognised several times by the national sailing federation DSV. More recently a new clubhouse and sailing centre were built at the harbour, with documented topping-out, interior finishing and ceremonial opening. On 21 March 2026, after Faltermeier stepped back, a new board was elected: Matthias Walcher as first chair, Wolfgang Hirschbeck as second chair, Rainer Bogner as treasurer, Markus Bernholt as secretary and Kerstin Goldhahn as youth officer. Today Yachtclub Eolus sees itself as a lively club for beginners and experienced sailors on the Brombachsee, with a youth section, Wednesday regattas, youth sailing weeks and active licence training.
