Yachtclub Plochingen e.V.
Yachtclub Plochingen e.V. is located at the navigable end of the Neckar at kilometre 200.1 in a green oasis in front of Plochingen harbour. Around 40 members are active in sailing as well as motorboating and inflatable boats, with a pier, club grounds and slipway; there are no permanent water berths, so boats are trailerable. The sailing youth section uses Optimists, Lasers and 420s with training and club regattas, while the motorboat youth has competed successfully since 2004 in inflatable-boat slalom and MS11 up to German championships. Guests arriving on their own keel and trailer skippers are asked to register before arrival and find infrastructure at the pier and clubhouse.
History
Yachtclub Plochingen e.V. is a water sports club on the upper Neckar in front of Plochingen harbour. Club life combines sailing and motorboating; members use the pier, club grounds and slipway, while boats remain trailerable and are launched as needed. Since 2004 the motorboat youth has regularly competed in inflatable-boat slalom and the MS11 class and has taken part not only in Neckar, state and German championships but also three times in a UIM World Championship. With siblings Luca Marie and Ron Bofinger and Laurin Schweikardt the club achieved strong results over many years, including Ron Bofinger's 2022 German championship title in MS11. The sailing section holds several club regattas each year and supports juniors with Optimists, Lasers and 420s; in 2022 the sailing youth received a used Laser as a donation. At the 54th annual general meeting in 2022 members decided among other things to renovate the boat pier and purchase a defibrillator. The club presents itself publicly at the Bruckenwasen festival in Plochingen, organises taster sailing, motorboat outings and social events such as boat christenings and barbecues, and celebrated its club anniversary in 2018.
