Yachtclub Schondorf e.V. is a DSV member club on Lake Ammersee in Schondorf, founded on 20 March 1966. The small club with 35 members uses the northern Schondorf sailing pier with boat houses and offers sailing for juniors and adults. The programme includes youth training, season opening and closing sails, and the annual Starthauspreis regatta organised together with the Schondorf sailing club. Beyond local racing on Lake Ammersee, members also cruise to the Schlei, the Danish South Sea, Corsica and Sardinia.
History
Yachtclub Schondorf e.V. was founded on 20 March 1966 and is a member of the German Sailing Association (DSV). The club is based on Lake Ammersee in Schondorf and is registered under VR 63 at the Landsberg am Lech local court. At the time of the 2024 Starthauspreis regatta the club had existed for 58 years. Club life centres on season opening and closing sails, youth training and the joint organisation of the Starthauspreis regatta with Schondorfer Segelclub SSCA e.V. In the 2020 coronavirus season, club life changed markedly: instead of the usual lakeside community, individual activities dominated; holiday training took place in a small group with Optimists, Laser and an O-Jolle. In 2021 and 2022 youth training, season opening and regattas continued under the prevailing conditions; in 2021 junior participation was so strong that a dedicated youth prize line was introduced for the first time. Besides sailing on Lake Ammersee, members cruise to the Schlei and the Danish South Sea, to Corsica and Sardinia, and to the Danube. Today Yachtclub Schondorf reports 35 members and remains a compact sailing club on Lake Ammersee.
