Yachtclub Delphin Telfs
Yachtclub Delphin Telfs has been active in Telfs in the Inn Valley since 1986, combining inland sailing on Lake Achensee with offshore cruising. The club with more than 100 members operates a clubhouse at Griesgasse 7 and a club site with buoys and shore berths on Lake Achensee, where members can charter club boats such as Kielzugvogel and Optimist for 25 euros per day after instruction. As a training centre recognised by the Austrian Sailing Federation (ÖSV) and the Austrian Motor Yacht Association (MSVÖ), the club offers courses for BFA inland and FB certificates, regular travel lectures, training cruises and regattas such as the club regatta and Kornati Cup. Every Friday from 8:00 p.m., the open club evening takes place; it is cancelled on public holidays, and guests are welcome. Since 2005 the club has been a member of the Tyrolean Sailing Association and the Austrian Sailing Federation, with no joining fee and the aim of making sailing affordable for everyone.
History
Yachtclub Delphin Telfs was founded in 1986 in Telfs, about 30 kilometres west of Innsbruck. The non-political association aims to inspire people for sailing on inland waters and offshore cruising. Since 2005 the club has been a member of the Tyrolean Sailing Association (VTS) and the Austrian Sailing Federation (ÖSV). Over the decades, a diverse club life developed with club festivals, club regattas on Lake Achensee, youth sailing, training cruises in the Adriatic, Kornati Cup participation and international trips including a Caribbean cruise to the British Virgin Islands in 2007. In 2007 a clubhouse was reopened after a fire, but later became unusable due to water damage. From July 2014 members jointly renovated a new clubhouse at Griesgasse 7; after months of work totalling more than 500 volunteer hours, it officially opened in December 2014 with the Christmas party. On Lake Achensee the club operates a site with buoys and shore berths on Tiroler Wasserkraft premises. The club grew to more than 100 members and trains only club members for sailing certificates according to ÖSV and MSVÖ standards, including BFA inland and FB2 to FB4.
