Langwedeler Yacht Club e.V.

Langwedeler Yacht Club e.V. has been a hub for water sports and community at the Intschede Weser weir on the Weser river between Bremen and Verden since 1999. The club grounds offer water and land berths, a private slipway and the mobile clubhouse "Klabautermann"; members also use club-owned dinghies, SUP boards and a fleet of 13 club boats. Children from the age of eight learn to sail in the youth group from May to September, while weekly club meetings take place at the water on Tuesdays from May to early October. In addition to sailing, motor boating and water skiing, the club organises club cruises on the Baltic Sea as well as social events such as summer festivals and holiday activity programmes. With 152 members, the club combines nature experiences on the Weser with active commitment to youth development and community.

History

Langwedeler Yacht Club e.V. was founded in 1999 and has since become a fixture of the water sports community at the Intschede Weser weir. The club grounds are located on the Langwedel side of the Weser between Bremen and Verden and offer member access, berths on land and water, and a private slipway for boats and dinghies up to 1.90 m wide and a maximum weight of 360 kg. A public slipway and a designated water ski course are located directly in front of the club grounds. The club documents its development in a club chronicle covering the years 2000 to 2025. Today the club has 152 members and 13 club boats. The mobile clubhouse "Klabautermann" is the heart of club life, where members meet for regular gatherings and events. The long-established youth group introduces children from the age of eight to sailing using club-owned dinghies such as Optimist, Teeny, 420er and RS Quest. Annual highlights include the season opening, the one-week club cruise from Flensburg on the Baltic Sea in Denmark, the summer festival in August, the holiday activity programme with trial sailing for children, and the traditional season closing in October.
