Høruphav Havn & Brolaug

History

Høruphav Brolaug was founded in 1962 as an association based in Høruphav in Sønderborg Municipality. The club burgee is a horizontally divided pennant – a white field with a blue 'H' above and a blue field with a white five-pointed star below. According to the bylaws, the purpose of the Brolaug is to operate Høruphav Port as its owner, represent members' interests, secure access to the harbour and preserve the harbour's historic ties to the local area, while promoting sailing and motor boating among members through active club life. The association is a member of Dansk Sejlunion and Lillebælt Sydkreds. Membership categories include active A-members (aged 18+ with residence in Sønderborg Municipality), passive P-members and honorary members. The board consists of seven A-members elected by the general assembly; chair and vice-chair are appointed internally. Membership fees, entrance fees and deposits are set at the annual general meeting. Harbour fees for permanent and seasonal berths are decided by the board for April–November; winter berths and guest fees are also set by the board. The bylaws were last updated on 14 April 2024 and approved at the ordinary general meeting on 13 March 2024 and an extraordinary meeting on 14 April 2024; signatories were Erling Høi-Nielsen, Birgit Rasborg, Peter Petersen, Dan Vanner and Thomas Bauer. Today Høruphav Port is certified as a 'Safe Port', and the association received funding from LAG Aabenraa-Sønderborg to future-proof the harbour against storms. The Gendarmstien trail runs directly through the port, and club life includes social events, boat launch and haul-out days and regular Kapsejlads races with published results.
