The 1. Wassersportverein Lausitzer Seenland e.V. (WSVLS), with around 200 members, is one of the largest sailing clubs in Saxony and is located on Lake Geierswalde at the watersports centre in Elsterheide-Geierswalde. The club offers sailing for children from the age of six, juniors and adults – from regatta sailing and the Seenlandsail series to cruising and the water.Now! boat-sharing project with J/70, ILCA and other boats. The club grounds provide pontoons, a marina with crane, and training and regatta events such as the Goldener Geier and the Lausitz Cup. Inclusion for sailors with disabilities and an active youth section in Optimist, Open Skiff and other classes are particular focal points. Since the Seenlandsail was founded in 2011, the club has become a fixture of sailing in the Lusatian Lake District.

History
The 1. Wassersportverein Lausitzer Seenland e.V. has developed on Lake Geierswalde in the heart of the Lusatian Lake District into one of the largest sailing clubs in Saxony, with around 200 members. A key milestone was the launch of the Seenlandsail in 2011: the regatta series aims to promote sailing in the region and explicitly welcomes juniors, cruising sailors, dinghy sailors and keelboat enthusiasts alike. Up to six events per season enable friendly competition and exchange among sailing friends; the overall winner receives the “Fliegende Hammer” perpetual trophy. Following the club’s participation in the 1st International German Championship 2013 at Segelclub Prien, the idea arose of an inclusive social sailing centre where disabled and non-disabled athletes train together on equal terms. The club sees itself as a lighthouse project for inclusion in sailing and aligns with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. In subsequent years the WSVLS expanded its regatta programme – including the Goldener Geier, the O-Jolle Cup Geierswalde, the Lausitz Cup and international events such as the EUROSAF Inclusive Cup 2023. With the water.Now! project and its own J/70 for intergenerational sailing, the club has recently broadened its offer for members without their own boat. The Seenlandsail has become a regular institution in the Lusatian Lake District and increasingly attracts sailors from other clubs.
