Wassersportclub Grenzach-Wyhlen e.V.
Wassersportclub Grenzach-Wyhlen e.V. is a registered watersports club in Grenzach-Wyhlen on the Rhine and operates its own club grounds with a slipway and jetty area. The website mainly presents rules for using the slip facility, general club information, and internal notices for members. The offer is aimed at club members and, after consultation, also at other interested boat owners, with clear regulations for safety, site use, and operational conduct. Historically, the club shows continuous development from its foundation and land acquisition to the construction of a new club facility, and today it is organized as a local club with a small but active membership base.
History
The club was founded in 1967 with 40 members, and each member had to pay an admission fee of 30 Deutsche Mark. In 1970, a lease agreement was concluded between Kraftwerk Birsfelden and the then named Wassersportclub Hochrhein e.V., followed by a board change in 1970/71 with the election of N. Denzinger. Between 1972 and 1974, the slipway, an equipment shed, and additional infrastructure such as fencing were built. In 1975, the club invited children from the Beuggen children's home for a special activity, which was later continued through the municipality's holiday program. In 1987, the club applied to acquire the property; in 1988 the municipality of Grenzach-Wyhlen approved the purchase; and in 1990 the site was bought, financed by ten club members and existing club assets. In 2002, the name was changed to "Wassersportclub Grenzach-Wyhlen e.V.", and in 2004 the club joined the Landesverband Motorbootsport Baden-Wuerttemberg e.V. After the 40th anniversary in 2007, the club completed a new facility and relocation in 2013, implemented the second construction phase and inauguration in 2014, and built a new slipway in 2015. In 2017, the club celebrated its 50th anniversary and underwent a generational change on the board. According to the club information, it currently has 20 members, including 17 with boats and 3 without boats.
