Warnemünder Segel-Club e.V.
Warnemünder Segel-Club e.V. is a long-established sailing club in Warnemünde near Rostock, located directly on the Mittelmole between the Alter Strom and Neuer Strom with immediate access to the Baltic Sea. The club grounds on the Alter Strom provide berths for 21 yachts, while additional boats are moored in the nearby sports school marina, and club life is centered around the "Uns Logis" clubhouse restaurant and the office facilities at the regional sports school area. The club combines competitive and recreational sailing with active youth development, and it organizes the Wednesday regatta as well as the international WARNEMÜNDER WOCHE as principal host. In the youth division, around 40 young sailors train in several boat classes under experienced volunteer coaches with additional structured sports support. Since its founding in 1925, the club has remained a defining part of sailing at the Warnow estuary despite historical disruptions and is currently expanding its infrastructure through the replacement project for "Uns Logis".
History
Warnemünder Segel-Club e.V. was founded in 1925 and is therefore one of the oldest sailing clubs in Rostock. As early as July 1926, the club participated in federation races off Warnemünde that are considered the first Warnemünder Woche and even included the imperial yacht SY METEOR. After the end of the war in 1945, sailors in Warnemünde managed a comparatively rapid sporting restart thanks to their direct Baltic location, although the club had to endure several setbacks, including the loss of its clubhouse and, in 1954, the "Knurrhahn" burgee. On the Mittelmole, a strong sense of community developed during this period and later provided the seven members required to legally reactivate the WSC in March 1990 under German association law. In the 1970s, "Uns Logis" with boat hall was prepared through major volunteer effort and served as the club's home for decades; today, the club is driving a replacement building with rooms for youth work, sanitary facilities, training, office operations, and club activities. The WSC now presents itself with more than 200 members, including nearly 50 children and teenagers, and is internationally visible as principal organizer of WARNEMÜNDER WOCHE.

Around 40 children and teenagers aged six to 18 train at WSC in the Optimist, 420er, 470er, and Laser classes with year-round training operations.
