Württembergischer Yacht-Club e.V. is a long-established sailing club in Friedrichshafen on Lake Constance, with facilities at the marina on Uferstraße and at the Seemoos dinghy site. The club operates its own marina with 270 berths, a clubhouse, a restaurant, crane and slipway infrastructure, and a large training and winter storage area in Seemoos. Its core activities combine regatta sailing, cruising, youth development, and Olympic classes, complemented by regular training camps, Wednesday and Friday races, and training programs. Since its registration in 1911, the club has evolved from a royally inspired founding club through post-war reconstruction into one of Germany’s largest sailing clubs with strong performance and youth pathways.

History
The present Württembergischer Yacht-Club was entered in the register of associations in 1911 as the Royal Württemberg Yacht Club. In the founding year, construction started on a dedicated marina and a first clubhouse, followed by the official marina inauguration in 1912. Over the following decades, the club developed strongly in sport but was severely set back by war destruction: in 1944, the clubhouse, harbor facilities, and winter storage in Seemoos were heavily damaged. From 1949 onward, members rebuilt the club under difficult conditions, and by 1951 the WYC was already hosting Lake Constance Week again. Further milestones included marina modernization and clubhouse expansion, notably the major harbor extension commissioned in 1992 and the enlarged, modernized clubhouse opened in 1995. Sporting highlights include the 1976 Olympic gold medal of the Diesch brothers in the Flying Dutchman and other international successes. Today, the club combines historic continuity with broad youth, training, and regatta work on Lake Constance.
