Wassersport-Verein Richterswil (WVR)
Wassersport-Verein Richterswil is a multi-discipline watersports club on Lake Zurich with sections for sailing, paddle/SUP, motorboating and Nautilus. Club life is centered at Horn in Richterswil, where members use the clubhouse, changing facilities and storage spaces directly by the lake, with access to sailing boats, SUP boards, kayaks and other paddle craft. The club serves children, teenagers and adults, and runs an active youth section with regular sailing training and regatta-related activities, including the season closing regatta and further club events in the annual program. WVR is affiliated with Swiss Sailing and the Zurich Lake Sailing Association, combining structured sports development, community activities and a long-established local club culture.
History
Wassersport-Verein Richterswil was initiated in January 1975 by nine watersports enthusiasts, and the founding assembly took place on 28 April 1975 with 16 participants and an elected board. In 1976 the first regular general assembly was held with 35 members, and in the following years the club joined the Zurich sailing association and, in 1981, USY, now known as Swiss Sailing. A major milestone came in 1985 when the club took over administration of the Shedhalle, with the goal of providing a clubhouse and winter storage capacity. During the 1990s, the club fleet was expanded, including additional dinghies from 1993 and its own Dyas from 1997; in 1996 an international Dart regatta was held off Horn. From 2019 onward, junior development was relaunched with a modern fleet of 16 Optimists and several Laser/ILCA boats. In 2023, a new contract for management of Shedhalle Horn was signed with the municipality of Richterswil, and in 2025 the club celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Active youth section with sailing courses and regular training from April to October; the main training evening is Friday, while newcomers usually train on Wednesday.
