History
Wassersportverein Friedrichshafen-Fischbach was founded in 1950 and in its early years around the Brunnisach estuary it was initially shaped by rowing and racing kayak activities. Through extensive volunteer work by members, a former marsh area with the Brunnisach flowing through it was transformed into today's harbour with 98 water berths in the front harbour, rear harbour and fishermen's harbour sections. Over several construction phases, an old Red Cross barrack developed into today's boathouse with sanitary facilities, canoe storage, a large boat hall, a youth room and the club restaurant. Regatta activity was reduced from many supra-regional events to one major annual 20 sqm Jollenkreuzer regatta and regular Wednesday regattas with neighbouring clubs. In parallel, the club evolved from former self-catering structures to a public gastronomy operation at the site. According to the club profile, WVF currently has 467 members and has combined sailing, canoeing, youth development and volunteer commitment on Lake Constance for decades.
