Associazione Velica Trentina
Associazione Velica Trentina (AVT) is a long-established sailing club on Lake Caldonazzo in the Valcanover district of Pergine Valsugana, Trentino. The club base with pier, nautical headquarters, bar and kitchen is the hub of a broad programme of regattas, cruising races and sailing school courses for children, juniors and adults. Active classes include Optimist, ILCA, 470 and J/24, and the club regularly hosts major events such as the German Open Snipe and the Tridente d'Oro trophy. For 2028, AVT was awarded the European Master Snipe Championship together with the 25th German Open. The sailing school is a well-known entry point for youth sailing in the region and combines competitive sport with active club life on the lake.
History
Associazione Velica Trentina is rooted on Lake Caldonazzo in Valcanover near Pergine Valsugana and has shaped Trentino sailing for decades. A visible milestone is the Tridente d'Oro, whose 75th edition was held on Lake Caldonazzo in May 2026, with AVT winning the overall ranking ahead of Caldaro. The club has repeatedly hosted the German Open Snipe on Lake Caldonazzo; the 23rd edition took place at the end of May 2026, and in 2028 the European SCIRA secretaries' council unanimously assigned AVT the European Master Snipe Championship together with the 25th German Open. International highlights include the 2017 European Master Snipe Championship in Molveno and later celebrations in the club for Olympic successes by Ruggero Tita. Infrastructure work in the 2010s included the collapse and rebuilding of a wall in 2011 and renovation of the veranda in 2012. A new crane was installed in July 2023. Beyond racing, the club has long organised social and cultural events on the pier, including cruising races, aperi-dinners and the Lagolosa event on the lake. The sailing school remains the starting point for many young sailors and is recognised as a leading club school in the region.
