TSG Lindau - Zech e.V. - Abteilung Wassersport
TSG Lindau - Zech e.V., Watersports Department, is an established watersports club on Lake Constance in Lindau-Zech with its own sailing harbour, clubhouse and harbour restaurant. The harbour, idyllically situated in a nature reserve between the Leiblach border river, a campsite and an allotment garden area, offers 139 water berths, 17 land berths and six guest mooring places, along with infrastructure such as showers, toilets, a barbecue area, pier electricity and a 6-tonne crane. For young people aged 6 to 18, there is an active youth section with its own boat fleet and youth training on Mondays; from age 14, preparation for the Lake Constance boating licence is available. Regattas such as the club regatta, the single-handed regatta and the traditional Katpokal Bodensee shape club life. Founded in 1969, with the harbour opening in 1971 and the clubhouse since 1983, the club now unites around 640 members.
History
The Watersports Department of Turn- und Sportgemeinschaft Zech e.V. was founded in April 1969. The first ground-breaking for the Zech sports boat harbour took place on 27 December 1970, and up to 20 volunteers worked daily on the harbour in their spare time, supported by numerous companies offering free assistance. The Zech harbour was commissioned in the 1971 season. Further construction work followed in subsequent years, and on 20 July 1974 the Lindau-Zech sailing harbour was officially inaugurated. The youth section was founded in 1975. In 1983 the clubhouse was completed and ceremonially opened. Regattas have a long tradition at Lindau-Zech sailing harbour; the highlight is the Katpokal Bodensee, first held in May 1987, attracting participants from many European countries. Today the department has 640 members, 48 of whom are in the youth section. The site is idyllically located in a nature reserve between the Leiblach border river to Austria, the campsite and the allotment gardens, and is reachable on foot or by non-motorised bicycle via Frauenhoferstraße and Irisweg.
