Club Nautico Triestino SIRENA
Club Nautico Triestino SIRENA (TPK CNT Sirena) is a long-established sailing club in Trieste, based at its nautical headquarters on Viale Miramare directly on the Gulf of Trieste. Founded in 1924 and re-established in 1976, the club offers extensive watersports facilities including moorings, a boat ramp, clubhouse, social bar, changing rooms and boat storage for members. The programme includes sailing courses for children, juniors and adults, a strong youth and racing department in Optimist, 420, ILCA and offshore classes. Each year it organises international regattas such as the Adriatic Meeting and the Sirena Cup. With around 500 members and numerous national and international successes, Sirena is one of the leading sailing clubs in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region.
History
Club Canottieri Triestino Sirena (Tržaški Veslarki Klub Sirena) was founded in 1924 by Dragotin Starc; the first general assembly was held in Barcola on 11 October 1924. The club was dissolved by the fascist regime in 1927. In the 1950s Stanislav Starec promoted the idea of re-founding the club; in 1975 his son Inko Starec returned from Milan and revived the project. On 28 November 1976 promoters met in Barcola, and on 22 December 1976 the club was officially re-registered by notary. The first general assembly of the new TPK Sirena was held on 23 January 1977; Romeo Ferfoglia became president and the club had 57 members. Youth sailing courses began in 1977. President Edoardo Filipcic applied for FIV membership in 1979; after initial rejection, Sirena was admitted to the FIV on 20 June 1980, and in 1981 received official sailing school recognition. Since 1976 the club has operated from its nautical base on Viale Miramare, expanded under Eng. Livio Pertot. Arianna Bogatec was ten times Italian champion in the Europe class and competed in two Olympic Games. Jaro Furlani and Daniel Piculin won the U16 World Championship in the 420 class in 2001. Branko Brčin and Aleš Omari won world titles in ORC and Melges 32. Jana Germani qualified for the 2024 Olympic Games in 49er FX. The sport fishing section was founded in 1989. Today the club organises annual sailing courses, international youth regattas with over 250 participants, and the traditional offshore race Trieste-Brioni-Trieste.

Active youth section with sailing school for children (6–12), teenagers (13–18) and adults; Optimist categories Principianti, Cadetti and Juniores; pre-racing Optimist and ILCA 6; over 20 young racing sailors and more than 60 participants in the summer sailing school.
