Segelsportgemeinschaft Reichenbach e.V.
Segelsportgemeinschaft Reichenbach e.V. (SSGR) is a traditional sailing club on the Vogtland Sea, the Pöhl reservoir in Saxony’s Vogtland region. The club maintains grounds with a boathouse and jetties and, within the Vogtland sailing area network, hosts its own regattas such as the Schluchtenpreis and the Vogtlandpokal. Beyond racing and yardstick events, SSGR supports youth sailing with training, taster sessions in the 29er and 420 classes, and an annual training camp. Cruising, club celebrations and joint work days shape club life; according to the chair, the community looks back on almost 60 years and sees itself as a stable members’ and family community on the Pöhl sailing waters.
History
According to chair Svend Vieweg’s welcome address, Segelsportgemeinschaft Reichenbach e.V. has been active for almost 60 years on the Vogtland Sea, the Pöhl reservoir. The club looks back on a long tradition of joint work, true to the motto “many hands make light work”, and stresses the importance of members, families, friends and supporters as pillars of the club. In the legal notice, Segelsportgemeinschaft Reichenbach e.V. is registered at the Chemnitz register court under VR 60044; the board chair is Svend Vieweg. Since 2022 the postal address has been handled via Steffen Ebner in Treuen. Sportingly, SSGR is rooted in the Vogtland sailing area network and regularly hosts the Schluchtenpreis and the Vogtlandpokal as Vogtland championship on Lake Pöhl. Photo galleries and the calendar also document yardstick races, Ascension Day events, cruising and an annual training camp. The youth section organises sailing training, including 29er sessions and 420 taster training, as well as child and youth protection contacts. The newly elected board aims to guide the club into the next 60 years and deliberately focuses on the club grounds and community amid stagnating race entries and difficult youth recruitment.
