Seehamer Segelclub SSC
Seehamer Segelclub SSC is a non-profit sailing club founded in 1961 on Lake Obertrumer See in Seeham, Austria. The club grounds at Hauptstraße 72 include jetties, a clubhouse, berths and storage areas for dinghies and keelboats, with crane and slipway operations. Classes sailed at the club include Optimist, ILCA, O-Jolle, Topcat, 29er and Korsar, and the youth section has club boats and regular training. Besides club events such as Seehamer Seerose and Clubcup, SSC hosts regional and national championships and youth events including the Obelix regatta. A hallmark is strong youth development with a taster year, children's sailing days and results up to world titles, complemented by a live webcam and weather information for Lake Obertrumer See.
History
Seehamer Segelclub has existed since 1961 and celebrates its 65th anniversary in 2026 with a birthday festival on the club grounds. The club's purpose is the non-profit promotion of sailing on Lake Obertrumer See, with youth development among its core tasks from the outset. Over the decades SSC has become an active racing and youth club in the Salzburg lake district, regularly hosting club regattas such as Seehamer Seerose and Clubcup as well as championships. In 2018 an SSC team qualified for the 2019 sailing Bundesliga. From 2019 onward the club recorded major youth and class successes, including Austrian youth championships in Optimist, Zoom8 and 29er and international entries. In 2020 the Austrian Youth Championship for Zoom8 and 29er was held at SSC; Laurenz Haselberger became Zoom8 youth champion. In 2021 Laurenz Haselberger won the Zoom8 World Championship in Holte, Denmark, and the club celebrated its 60th anniversary. In 2022 and 2023 TopCat national and state championships followed on Lake Obertrumer See along with large Optimist events such as Obelix with more than 50 Optimists. In 2024 Wolfgang Klampfer and his son Paul won TopCat Worlds gold at Lake Garda; the death of honorary president Horst Huber sen. was also announced. In 2025 a new webcam went live, roof renovation was documented, and further TopCat national titles as well as Aquila and O-Jolle events were held at SSC. In 2026 the club again hosts Aquila ÖM and O-Jolle SP and invites members to the 65th anniversary summer festival. Club history is shaped by volunteer work, clubhouse and jetty operations, crane and slip dates, and close ties to the municipality of Seeham and the Salzburg Sailing Federation.
