Société des Régates de Caen-Ouistreham

Société des Régates de Caen-Ouistreham (SRCO) is a French sailing club at the harbour of Ouistreham in Normandy, with a clubhouse and bar on Esplanade Eric Tabarly. The club runs club regattas, solo and double-handed races, coastal offshore events and cruising rallies, and holds the Fédération Française de Voile École de Compétition label. Facilities include the clubhouse, bar, boats and equipment; a key offer is the keelboat school on a J/80 in partnership with Océan and Caen Yacht Club. The programme targets racing sailors, keelboat beginners and radio-controlled sailing fans, with race training, the Micro Magic Challenge, Channel rallies and support for the CIC-Normandy Channel Race. A distinctive feature is its role in major Normandy events and its approved coastal boat licence training centre.

History

Société des Régates de Caen-Ouistreham (SRCO) is the sailing club of Caen-Ouistreham and maintains a clubhouse, bar, equipment and boats at Ouistreham harbour. It is labelled École de Compétition by the Fédération Française de Voile and organises crew, solo/double-handed and coastal offshore regattas, including the Critérium du Calvados final. From the start of the CIC-Normandy Channel Race organised by Sirius Event, SRCO has provided logistics and volunteers for Class40 starts and finishes, including committee boat, RIBs and a press boat. Under former president Guy Beaudouin the J/80 keelboat training programme was launched with Océan and Caen Yacht Club, sharing a boat from the Comité Départemental de Voile. The radio-controlled sailing section runs the annual Micro Magic Challenge and in 2025 added Dragon Flite 95 (DF95); two Micro Magic boats are available to borrow. Regular club racing off Ouistreham, Channel and coastal rallies such as Calva’s Cup with Cercle Nautique Honfleurais, and the Friday bar shape club life. Partners include Ouistreham town hall, SPL Nautisme Caen Ouistreham, the port authority, Caen Yacht Club, the nautical brigade, Océan and the Ouistreham casino. SRCO also runs an Affaires Maritimes-approved coastal boat licence training centre (prefecture no. 014022/2026).
