Siuntion Venekerho – Sjundeå Båtklubb ry is a Finnish boat and sailing club based in Siuntio with its harbour in Störsvik on Pickala Bay (Pikkalanlahti). Founded in 1975, the club has around 300 members and runs a harbour with about 200 berths, a clubhouse, a grill hut, a mast shed and water and electricity on the pontoons. Alongside active member life there is a junior programme and dinghy activity; free GT10 youth practice and coached sessions are announced regularly. The club belongs to the Finnish Sailing and Boating Federation, offers boat inspections for members and organises harbour security through guard duty and cameras.
History
Siuntion Venekerho – Sjundeå Båtklubb ry was founded in 1975 and is thus a roughly 50-year-old boat club on Finland’s south coast. Its harbour lies in Störsvik on Pickala Bay, with the postal address Kotilahden satama 1, 02580 Siuntio. Today the club has nearly 300 members and about 200 berths at a water depth of around two metres. Harbour facilities include a pump-out station, water and electricity on the pontoons, a club building, a grill hut and a mast shed; boats can be launched and recovered via a slipway or a crane from the embankment. The club is a member of the Finnish Sailing and Boating Federation and provides boat inspections included in the membership fee, which also allow use of the club burgee and ensign. Security of boats and club property is maintained by member guard duty and recording cameras. Junior work and dinghy sailing shape the programme beyond everyday club life; current slots for free and coached GT10 racing-boat training and events such as rescue drills by Inkoo Meripelastajat are published on the club website.
