SIMPL – Segeln im Meilener Pool
The sailing club SIMPL – Segeln im Meilener Pool is a Swiss sailing association founded in Meilen on Lake Zurich with its club address in Kilchberg. The club promotes sailing without a fixed membership or class policy and welcomes everyone who enjoys sailing. SIMPL is affiliated with the Swiss Sailing federation and the Lake Zurich sailors’ association ZSV and is funded through member and supporter contributions. Membership is possible without an admission or selection process and includes the annual fee with federation shares. For its 25th anniversary in 2025 the club organised a fun regatta at SC USZ and supports juniors as well as people with disabilities through funding contributions.
History
The sailing club SIMPL – Segeln im Meilener Pool was founded on 15 June 2000 in Meilen. Its stated aim is to promote sailing; the association has no fixed membership or class policy and is open to everyone who enjoys sailing. SIMPL is organised as an association, raises funds through member and supporter contributions, and holds an annual general meeting. The club is affiliated with Swiss Sailing and the Lake Zurich sailors’ association ZSV. Participation in major regattas requires membership in a Swiss Sailing affiliated club; at SIMPL joining is possible without an admission or selection process. In 2025 SIMPL celebrated its 25th anniversary and used guest rights at SC USZ (sailing club of the University Hospital Zurich) for a fun regatta on 28 June 2025; in return SIMPL provided drinks for all participants. The 2024 funding contribution went to the association Odysseus-Sailing, which supports sport, leisure and holiday projects for people with disabilities. SIMPL member Werner Schnorf won the 2024 Lake Zurich long-distance cup in group 6B with the team Beugen II / SB4 Carbon.
