Silkeborg Sejlklub

Silkeborg Sejlklub is a welcoming sailing club on the Silkeborg Lakes in Denmark, with its own marina and clubhouse at Hattenæs 2C. Members use berths for keelboats and dinghy spaces ashore, plus club boats and trailers available for hire. Juniors start in the Optimist section, while adults join the sailing school with practical and theory courses leading to the recreational sailing certificate. Weekly keelboat training, the Wednesday cup and several annual regattas shape the programme, complemented by a Dansk Sejlunion J/70 league team.

History

Silkeborg Sejlklub has grown over decades at Hattenæs into an active club on the Silkeborg Lakes. Under long-serving chairman Frank Nielsen (1986–1994 and 2002–2010, 16 years in total) the neighbouring Kongsholm plot was purchased and a new jetty built; in the same period a large H-boat fleet developed with annual events. Before 2002, Poul Fisker led construction of the new clubhouse; Nielsen then returned as chair when no other candidate stood. Ejlert Andersen joined the board in 2005 and later served as secretary and vice-chair. Today the club runs a marina with over 110 berths, Optimist youth sailing, a sailing school, club-boat hire and a busy regatta and league programme including a J/70 team.
