History
Seglergemeinschaft Oberndorf/Oste e.V. has existed since 1978 and has been a registered association in Lower Saxony since 1987. Over the years the community has gained many friends; in addition to around 120 members there are numerous sailing friends who discovered the J/24 as special sailing fun. A central chapter of the club’s development is active youth work: children and young people are playfully introduced to teamwork, responsibility and personal accountability, with fun as the connecting element. To give young people in the region the chance to learn sailing and apply their knowledge in professional regattas, the club acquired two J/24 keelboats named OstePower and OsteChallenge. The Team J24 youth project of Segler Gemeinschaft Oberndorf Oste e.V. has since been a distinctive focus of club life. The club’s regatta tradition includes the Oberndorf Regatta “Rund um den Medemgrund”; the 16th edition took place on 9 September 2006, with the match race on the Oste the day before. According to the imprint the club address is Hauptstraße 23 in 21787 Oberndorf/Oste; the website named Uwe Mählmann as 1st chairman.
