Segelgemeinschaft Vest Recklinghausen e.V.

Segelgemeinschaft Vest Recklinghausen e.V. is a cruising and flotilla sailing club in the Recklinghausen district with its registered address in Marl. Members sail among other things with the club-owned Kielzugvogel dinghy BlueBird on Lake Haltern, which is often spared from blue-green algae during the season. The programme includes flotilla trips at home and abroad, help with trip planning, further training, and special rates at partner Sportbootschule Ziegler. The club welcomes like-minded sailors and beginners who want to experience sailing as a community; there is no joining fee and no work duty. Emerging from the IG Segeln founded in 2004, the association has been registered as an e.V. in the Recklinghausen register under VR 2674 since 2012.

History

On 21 November 2004, Martin Kuhlmann and Gunther Domhöfer founded the Interessengemeinschaft (IG) Segeln. The aim was and remains to inspire like-minded people and newcomers for sailing and to bundle their interests. IG Segeln was hosted as a trend sports group within the swimming club Blau-Weiss Recklinghausen. From the start, membership and co-sailors grew steadily. Sportbootschule Ziegler stood by IG Segeln from the beginning; Torsten Ziegler was a partner for training, sailing trips, flotilla cruises and seamanship. IG Segeln and later SG Vest RE e.V. was and is the largest sailing community in the Recklinghausen district for cruising and flotilla sailing. At the end of 2010, a necessary split from the swimming club became clear. On 18 March 2011, a founding assembly resolved to establish Segelgemeinschaft Vest Recklinghausen e.V. Since 17 January 2012, the club has been entered in the Recklinghausen court association register under sheet VR 2674. Since 2016, the Kielzugvogel BlueBird has been owned by the club and enables members to sail on Lake Haltern. Boards continue to plan club life; members fill SG Vest RE e.V. with sailing activity.
