Segelclub Förmitzspeicher e.V. Hof is a registered sailing club based in Hof an der Saale with sailing grounds on Untreusee and on the Förmitz reservoir in Schwarzenbach an der Saale. At the Förmitz reservoir the club provides roughly 4,000 square metres of boat storage, a harbour with a floating pier for cabin boats and a clubhouse with terrace; in Hof it runs the Graf Luckner clubhouse with its own yard, plus a boathouse at Untreusee. Training and racing focus on Optimist, Teeny, 420er and Korsar, complemented by cutter sailing, club boats and crewing opportunities for beginners and families. Regular youth training, the annual sailing camp, regattas such as the Wärschtlamo Regatta and courses for inland and coastal skipper licences, SKS and SRC shape the programme. Founded on 1 September 1969 and with around 160 members, about one third of them children, juniors and young adults, SF ranks among the leading sailing clubs in northern Bavaria.
History
Segelclub Förmitzspeicher e.V. Hof was founded on 1 September 1969 – eight years before the inauguration of the Förmitz dam itself. The club’s purpose is to promote character and physical development through sailing. Based in Hof (Saale) and registered with the local court in Hof (VR97), the club grew into one of the leading sailing clubs in northern Bavaria. Today SF has around 160 members, about one third of them children, juniors and young adults. Its sailing grounds are Untreusee in Hof and the Förmitz reservoir in Schwarzenbach an der Saale. At the reservoir the club has a 4,000-square-metre boat storage area, a harbour with a floating pier for cabin boats and a clubhouse with terrace used regularly from May to October. In the winter half-year meetings take place at the Graf Luckner clubhouse in Mühlstraße in Hof, where boats are also maintained in the in-house yard. Sailors at Untreusee have a boathouse. Besides local sailing, the club takes part in national and international events such as Lake Starnberg or Kiel Fjord and runs cruises on the Baltic and Mediterranean. In winter, boat work, RC sailing and eSailing complement club life. The club is a member of the German Sailing Federation (DSV, membership number BA.068), the Bavarian State Sports Federation, the Bavarian Sailing Federation and the class associations DODV, Teeny, UNIQUA (420er) and the Korsar association. Training, youth development and qualifying supervisors, coaches, race officers, judges and club managers have long been part of SF’s identity.
