Sejlklubben Egensedybet
Sejlklubben Egensedybet is a small sailing club founded in 1974 in a protected natural area of Odense Fjord at the end of the Egense Dyb fairway. The club uses the privately run Otterup marina and offers a clubhouse with kitchen, sanitary facilities and dinghy storage. The focus is on youth sailing with Optimist, regular Tuesday training and evening racing for seniors. With about 90 members, including 22 youth sailors, and results at national and international championships, the club shapes the regional sailing scene on North Funen.
History
Sejlklubben Egensedybet was founded in 1974 and is located in a sheltered area of Odense Fjord at the end of the Egense Dyb fairway. The club is linked to the privately run Otterup Lystbådehavn, about one hour's sail from the fjord entrance known as Gabet. The harbour is well protected and calm in almost all wind directions. On the south side of Enebærodde the club maintains several mooring buoys for Dansk Sejlunion. In 2017 Otterup Lystbådehavn received funding from Nordfyns Municipality for a shelter and two fire huts near the basin. Later a new bath and toilet building with accessible toilet was built with EU rural development funds, foundation grants and club equity; more than DKK 800,000 was invested in total. The clubhouse with kitchen and sanitary facilities is also open to visiting sailors. Today the club has about 90 members, including 22 youth sailors, several of whom have competed in national and international championships.
