Seesportclub Seeburg e.V. is a diverse water sports club at the foot of Seeburg Castle on Lake Süßer See in the Mansfeld region of Saxony-Anhalt. The spacious grounds include a clubhouse, anglers' lodge and boathouse as well as shore and water berths; club-owned boats and the ZK10 cutter El Faro are available to members. The programme covers sailing, surfing, kiting, rowing, canoeing, paddling and angling; beginners can join the club cutter via the board, and cutter training takes place on Sundays. Regular events such as the season opening sail, Whitsun regatta, club regatta and season closing sail shape the club year; guests may use the grounds and guest rooms for one or several days.
History
Seesportclub Seeburg e.V. is based at the foot of historic Seeburg Castle on Lake Süßer See in the Mansfeld region. Lake Süßer See formed as a tongue-basin lake during the Weichselian glaciation and today serves as a leisure and recreation water for sailing, rowing, angling and other water sports; the lake and surroundings are increasingly under nature protection. Above the club grounds lies Seeburg Castle, built in the 12th century as a water castle and among the oldest surviving structures of its kind in Saxony-Anhalt. The club community combines sailing, angling, surfing, swimming, rowing and cutter sailing and welcomes guests to use the grounds, clubhouse and anglers' lodge. The current membership fee schedule was adopted at the general meeting on 15 November 2014; the club is registered under association number VR 43015. A highlight is participation in the Seeburg Lights Parade: in 2025 more than 30 festively illuminated boats crossed the lake, including Optimist sailors; the fourth edition is planned for 8 August 2026. Further fixed dates include the joint season opening sail, Whitsun regatta, club regatta, cruiser and cutter regattas and the state championships in cutter sailing (ZK10) on the club grounds.
